I hope everybody reading this thread notices
that the maps linked to in the OP were Pentagon generated maps, not Soviet Maps.
Our forum practitioner of vaguarities offered a title for that link that was a little vague in the attribution.
From the link:
"strategic conceptual maps taken from a 1987 Department of Defense study, which examined the
If a person reads the text accompanying the Pentagon art maps he or she will find some of the most blatant hyperbole they are ever likely to run into anywhere.
They actually have a map of Asiawith a huge pink arrow pointed straight east (ending in Japan) titled:
That ought to strike fear in the hearts of the feeble minded!
In a juvenile plea to the emotions, the text shouts:
"Those fears were not unwarranted. Had those "initial operational directions" the map depicts ever been marched on with actual Russian boots......
"actual Russian boots" - athletes foot and all?I can almost smell them.
Or is it the hyperbolic text I'm smelling?
The other link isn't any better it's the same kind of conceptualizing armageddon type fantasy - it almost offers a computer gamers theme park.
It promises more, but fails to deliver; where it offered a "Warsaw Pact War Plan of 1964", actually it only had a Czechoslovak People's Army battle plan (for the 1960s.)
In a "Warsaw Pact War Plan" I'd be more interested in what the Ruskies were up to.
It is odd that the PHP site labeled its link in a way which didn't actually reflect it's content.
This also makes me wonder - does amaxen read the information he post links to - beforepost the links?
I've always doubted that.
